“My Initiative” – Doha Girls Center Concludes Youth Competition for Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals
In celebration of International Youth Day 2025, and under the theme “Youth Engagement in Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals”, Doha Girls Center successfully concluded a youth-focused competition titled:
“My Initiative… Youth Action for Local Change.”
The competition aimed to encourage young people to propose innovative local initiatives that address real community challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Targeting women aged 21 to 39 within Qatar, the competition was open to both individual applicants and teams of up to five members. It witnessed strong engagement from young participants, with a wide range of impactful and creative ideas submitted.
The selection process included several stages: initial screening based on eligibility and feasibility, followed by live or recorded presentations to a professional judging panel. The top three initiatives were selected based on innovation, clarity, impact, and alignment with SDG-related themes.
The winning projects stood out for their originality and relevance to key societal issues such as environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and cultural preservation. These initiatives are now being incubated and supported for implementation, with guidance from experts and partners.
Throughout the competition, participants attended training workshops and mentorship sessions organized by the center, equipping them with tools to turn their ideas into actionable plans with measurable outcomes.
The competition ran from August 12 to August 25, 2025, with registration open until August 17, and finalist interviews held on August 20–21. The winners were officially announced on August 25 .
This initiative reflects Doha Girls Center’s commitment to empowering youth and enabling them to become agents of positive change in their communities while contributing to national and global sustainable development goa
