Awareness and Traditional Practices

Doha Girls Center successfully concluded a workshop titled “Agricultural Heritage”, aimed at introducing participants to the agricultural traditions of Qatar and the Gulf region, highlighting their significance in traditional lifestyles and their connection to environmental sustainability and manual labor values.

The workshop included both a theoretical component, where participants learned about the historical and cultural importance of agricultural heritage, and a hands-on practical session, during which they engaged in planting using traditional methods and natural, organic fertilizers.

The workshop focused on several key objectives:

  • Educating participants about the concept and value of agricultural heritage in the Gulf’s social and economic history.

  • Introducing different types of natural and organic fertilizers traditionally used in Qatar and the Gulf.

  • Strengthening awareness of the connection between traditional agricultural practices and environmental sustainability.

  • Developing practical agricultural skills through hands-on activities.

  • Instilling a sense of respect for the land and the value of manual work.

  • Encouraging girls to practice home gardening using accessible, traditional techniques.

Workshop topics included:

  • An introduction to agricultural heritage and its role in the region’s history.

  • Types of fertilizers used traditionally in Qatar and the Gulf.

  • A hands-on planting session using traditional farming techniques.

The workshop was met with enthusiastic participation, as the girls expressed great interest in exploring traditional agricultural practices. The experience deepened their appreciation of cultural heritage while enhancing their environmental awareness and practical skills.
